How Can I Use My 42″ Lcd Tv As My Computer Monitor?
Hey everyone! I have a very nice compaq laptop, but I would like to expand a bit. I also have a 42″ LCD TV. I was wondering if there exists some kind of cord or something that I can use as my monitor? I have the monitor input on the back of my laptop.
ANY help or light being shed upon my question would be very helpful!
Thank you everyone!!!

HDMI cable.
The cable you are looking for is called a VGA cable.
First of all make sure that you acually have VGA input somewhere on your TV (flip through the manual that came with it). once you are sure then just head over to an electronic store of some sort and purchase yourself a VGA cable (make sure it is not a VGA extension cable or anything). Once you have it, its pretty simple to set everything up. all you need to do is plug one end into the Video output of your laptop and the other end into the VGA input a the back of your television.
TIP: once you have your laptop set up nicely with your LCD TV, you should consider also purchasing a wireless mouse and keyboard, so you wont have to have your laptop open all the time
Ideally use the VGA like everyone else has said. You may also have an SVideo port, I know mine does. This can be used to connect the laptop to the LCD. I only use it for movies sometimes, as the SVideo isn’t nearly as crisp as VGA. It works horrible to try and read type but fine with video as I mentioned. Easiest way to try setting it up, plug your cord into both components and look for a icon on one of your F keys that looks like a small monitor (rectangle with vertical lines next to it) hit that key and it may have compatible settings all ready to go. Note on mine I have to hold the Fn key and then hit the display key. Good luck!
Does your TV have a VGA input? That’d be the best way.
